Digital Pen & Mouse

Digital Pen & Mouse from EPOS

The Digital Pen & Mouse from EPOS doubles as a digital pen and a mouse. Meaning you can handwrite notes instead of typing and use it as
a tablet-type computer mouse. The coolest part is that you can capture and display handwritten notes and drawings on a computer, transform your
handwritten notes to text with its handwriting recognition software, and have full mouse functionality. Just clip the receiver onto a notepad and have at it.
After you finish writing or drawing, you can share them via email. It exports files as PDFs.

The Digital Pen also serves as a mouse. By clicking the control in the middle, it provides instant mouse functionality. You can point and
click on icons, 'drag and drop' files and scroll up and down. If you haven't ever used a tablet computer, it might take some practice before you
get used to its mouse capabilities.

I would say the handwriting recognition software is about 85-90% accurate. It struggled with a few of my words. I might've been writing too fast
for it to recognize my text. I noticed it did a lot better when I wrote a little slower than usual and if I made sure all letters were written
neatly. It converted my capital I's to capital T's and occasionally did the opposite.

Some of us write faster than we type. That's where I see this being beneficial. The "Pen & Ink Editor" software makes it easy
for you to edit your writing before you convert it to text and after even you have converted it. You can also doodle or write notes on pictures.
So you can have fun drawing a mustache on people! I was quite pleased with this application. I was more excited
knowing it worked well with Windows Vista with no problem whatsoever.

Be sure to check out our interview with Avi Gris from EPOS at Computex from Taiwan last
month. He’ll tell you more about the Digital Pen & Mouse. Watch Video
